Small Groups
Below you will find two sections: the first providing general information about Small Groups and the second part a list of some of the Small Groups around Yongsan. At the ROCK, we encourage you to either connect with an existing group or consider forming one of your own. Small Group membership provides an opportunity to "re-charge" your spiritual battery during the week in between the normal Sunday service as well as meet like minded Christian individuals. The early Christians didn't meet in churches; rather they met in homes or other locations in Small Groups to learn, fellowship and grow in their faith. Why not do the same?
GENERAL INFORMATION:
WHO: You as a Participant, Leader or Host (Leader and Host can be the same person)
Participant-Shows up and contribute to the group
Leader-Facilitates the discussion and guides the group
Host-Provides a place for the group to gather
WHAT: A Small Group Study is composed of about 4-10 people who come together on a regular basis outside of the weekly ROCK service to fellowship and study the Bible or some aspect of the Christian life.
WHERE: Normally at the home of one of the group members-(i.e. Host). Ideally, the Small Group members will be geographically located for example: Hannam Village, On-Post Housing Burke Towers, Off-Post: ABC Apartments near Gate 17, etc. Other than location, a person may join a group because of interest in the topic or compatibility with other group members.
WHEN: We hope to start soon once we can assess interest and identify people to help out. The meetings are to be determined by the group but usually meet once a week for an hour or two.
WHY: Fellowship with and get to know other ROCK members. Further your Christian development and grow closer to God.
HOW: Find out what groups have formed, where they will meet, what the topic is and then join. The Small Groups will take on topics such as the Book of Mark, A Purpose Driven Life or How Does a Christian Manage Finances and study it though. Once the study is over, the group may disband or continue with a new topic. Members are asked to commit to fulfilling the current topic but have the flexibility to join or change groups during mid-course.
WHAT TO DO NEXT: Contact one of the Chaplains or Tommy Kramer and let them know if you are interested in becoming a leader, host, or participant and also what topics you are interested in studying.
